Anglo-German Christmas service raises 3,200 euros in donations

VKA Hospice and Palliative Care Centre PAULINE receives 1,600 euros

At the traditional German-British Christmas service in Paderborn, the visitors showed their willingness to help. The Christmas service in December last year was organised by the Anglo-German Club Paderborn, the British forces in Sennelager and the Metropolitan Chapter. According to the organisers, a total of around 3,200 euros in donations was collected. The collection in the High Cathedral was divided equally between the VKA Hospice and Palliative Care Centre PAULINE in Paderborn and the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) in the UK.

The Pauline Hospice and Palliative Centre is run by the Paderborn Association of Catholic Care for the Elderly (VKA). It aims to offer people with incurable, life-shortening illnesses competent and compassionate support and care. In addition to inpatient care, the centre also offers partial inpatient palliative care. ‘A day hospice like this fills a huge gap in care for people in the last phase of their lives,’ says Ulrike Molitor, Project Manager of the VKA Hospice and Palliative Centre PAULINE. Alexandra Jungblut (VKA Ethics Department) and Ulrike Molitor were delighted with the financial support: “Every donation brings us closer to our goal. We are delighted to receive so much support”.

Barney Barnbrook from the Army Benevolent Fund would also like to express his sincere thanks for the donation. Donations like these help British soldiers, veterans and their families on the ground.
Ilka Mindt and Volker Greaves from the Anglo-German Club Paderborn were impressed by the plans to build the hospice when they handed over the donation in the garden of the Sisters of Christian Charity. The ground-breaking ceremony is planned for spring 2026.

The Anglo-German Club is open to all interested parties – regardless of age, origin or language skills. If you would like to find out more about the activities or join the club, you can find information on the website www.dec-paderborn.de or on Instagram at dec_paderborn.
